Emma came to me needing photos for her dance company, with a cabaret theme in mind. I loved that idea and it gave me room to really play with light and shadow.

That became the fun part of the shoot. But it turned into the hard part too.

When I got into editing, I realized how sensitive light and shadow actually are. Push it a little too far and the whole image starts to feel off, almost unnatural. It made me realize that I need to work on shadow and light compositing, and now I know exactly what to practice.

Even with that struggle, I'm proud of how this shoot turned out. Emma was also happy with the results, and I walked away having learned something about my craft.
